I’m Nannette Stein, a board-certified specialist in diagnostic imaging for small animals, and I’ve been passionate about radiology for many years.
From an early age, I knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian. I fulfilled this ambition by studying veterinary medicine at Justus Liebig University Giessen. During my studies, I was particularly fascinated by radiology — the combination of visual perception, spatial thinking, and analytical precision. After completing a twelve-month internship, I began my doctoral studies in radiology, laying the foundation for my further professional career.
From 2014 to 2016, I headed the radiology department at Tierklinik Ahlen. I then worked as a senior veterinarian at Tierklinik Hofheim until 2024. In parallel, I began working in teleradiology in 2014 — a way of working that continues to inspire me to this day, as it supports colleagues in their daily practice while maintaining the highest diagnostic standards. I have been part of Vetradiologie since its founding and have been employed here full-time since 2025. In addition, I teach recurring CT diagnostic modules for Improve International, a role that is particularly close to my heart, as it allows me to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for radiology with fellow veterinarians.
What drives me? The fascination of recognizing structures and changes in images, understanding their relationships, and thereby enabling accurate diagnoses and treatments for animal patients. This joy in the “language of images” has accompanied me since my student days and continues to motivate me every day.

I live in the Rhine-Lahn region with my husband, our two daughters, and our Aussie Doodle, Gustav. Gustav is our cheerful everyday companion and, whenever possible, also joins me at seminars. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and staying active. One of my special passions is painting with acrylics—especially animal motifs. It’s where I find calm, inspiration, and joy, particularly when accompanied by good music.
